June 2024 saw some major updates and improvements for the SCHADS Award rules within the TurnPoint Pay Software.
We ask that you read each section in detail including what actions you need to take before updating the SCHADS award. Some steps may require the assistance of the TurnPoint Success Team - this will be provided free of charge.
It is recommended that after performing any update, extra vigilance is observed to ensure the correct application of any updates in the system.
New Pay Condition Rules for Part Time Employees
The Rule Set's for Permenant Employees have been separted from the Rule Sets for Full time employees. This has been done to ensure the accurate application of period overtime as per clause 28 in the Award.
What you need to do:
- Update the Award to the most up to date version (for instructions click here)
- Identify which employee's are Part Time
- Ensure each Part Time employee has been successfully transferred to the Part Time rule set in their Pay Run Defaults:
New Rules - Heat Allowances
There are now 2 new rules, work types and pay categories for Hot Work Allowances to meet the requirements of clause 20.9 within the Award.
What you need to do
If you need Heat Allowances for any of your employees please reach out to the TurnPoint Success Team.
New Rules - Min. 4 hours Before/After Sleepover
A much requested rule is now live in the updated rule-sets to meet clause 25.7f in the award. These rules will now ensure that a minimum of 4 hours is scheduled either before or after a sleepover. If the rule isn't met then the rule set will auto-top up the remaining hours.
What you need to do
For this one you will need to update the rule's as part of the Award Update process - no further action is needed and the rule sets will be applied automatically.
New Rules - Min. 8 hours for 24hr Care
To meet the clause 25.8d a rule set has been added for 24hr Care work types and an 8hr minimum will be automatically applied.
What you need to do
For this one you will need to update the rule's as part of the Award Update process - no further action is needed and the rule sets will be applied automatically.
New Rules - Client Cancellation
There now exists a rule specifically for Part Time and Full Time workers where cancelled shifts can now be mapped to.
What you need to do
TurnPoint Assist already manages this - no action is required
New Rules - Time in Lieu of Overtime
Where a provider has an agreement in writing with a casual employee to receive Time in Lieu of Overtime (TOIL) - you are able to assign a Tag to the employee's TurnPoint Pay profile and TOIL will be applied automatically.
What you need to do
For this one, you will need to identify any employees that have an existing TOIL arrangement. You will then need to add in a tag on their employee details page (TOIL of Overtime):
New Employment Agreements
New Employment Agreements have been added to the Award:
- Crisis accommodation employee level 1 as per Schedule C
- Pay point 3 (3 year degree) clause C.1.3(b)(i)
- Pay point 4 (4 year degree) clause C.1.3(b)(ii)
- Crisis accommodation employee level 4 as per Schedule C
- Pay point 2 (Graduates) clause C.4.1(f)
- Social and community services employee level 2 as per Schedule B
- Pay point 2 (Level 4 certificate) clause B.2.1(e)
- Social and community services employee level 3 as per Schedule B
- Pay point 3 (3 year degree) clause B.3.1(g)
- Pay point 4 (4 year degree) clause B.3.1(g)
What you need to do
Ensure that all your employees have been correctly mapped against their relevant Agreement levels.
Revised Broken Shift Calculation
The Broken Shift calculations have been significantly improved to capture Broken Shifts more accurately. As always, we recommend double checking these Broken Shift Allowances after an Award Rules update to make sure they still meet your businesses understanding of the award.
What you need to do
TurnPoint Pay customers who had unique Broken Shift Rules have been contacted to ensure a smooth transition. Those who have not been contacted will not require any manual intervention and updates will happen automatically.
