The function of service types will largely remain the same as they currently are within TurnPoint. They are used to allocate appointments of a particular service, which in turn can be claimed for. However, providers will need to be aware of a couple of changes that will impact how they go about setting up service types and billing, as well as what service types they should be adding:
Changes to be aware of
Approved List
Each provider is approved to deliver only certain services within Support at Home. As the approved provider, you will have received information from the Government on which services you are approved to provide under SAH.
That approved list covers services you deliver directly and services you sub-contract for.
For TurnPoint, you need to review your current service type list and compare it to your approved list.
- Make sure you are not going to deliver any services not on your approved list for Support at Home after 1 November 2025.
- Make sure any new services you are going to deliver for Support at Home are added in
- Some providers are choosing to start from scratch with the SAH Service Types and have different ones for SAH
Example They have an existing "HCP - Domestic Assistance" and have now added a "SAH - Domestic Assistance". Others have a simple approach where they already had "Domestic Assistance" and no changes are needed.
Pricing
TurnPoint has reviewed its billing functionality and listened to advice that the "Billing Rules" feature can be too confusing and cumbersome to keep up to date. You will no longer be required to set up the price directly on the service type or through billing rules - instead we have built a user friendly feature that incorporates all SAH pricing into one feature: Price Plans
Adding in Service Types
For adding in Service Types you can use our handy article here: Adding in Service Types
For Support at Home, the only details you need are:
- Name
- Package Restriction (Optional)
- Billing Type
- Payment Type
- Transport Points (optional)
- Travel Claim Restrictions (optional)
The remaining settings can be left optional if only using the service type for SAH. If using Service Types across funding sources, you may need more information such as default rates.
