The Department of Health, Disability and Ageing (DoHDA) has published the CHSP DEX Stage 3 changes. Stage 3 introduces new session-level data fields that CHSP providers must capture and report through the Data Exchange (DEX) system. Go-live is confirmed for August 2026.
This article explains what's changing and what you'll need to do in TurnPoint to be ready.
What's changing
Unlike previous DEX changes, Stage 3 fields are captured per appointment, not just at the client or package level. TurnPoint now has:
- A new DEX tab on relevant appointments, where the extra Stage 3 details are recorded — see "Capturing DEX Stage 3 Session Data" in this Knowledge Base.
- A new DEX Export (Beta) screen that produces a Stage 3‑ready DEX file, running alongside the existing DEX (DSS) report for a transition period — see "Running the New DEX Export" in this Knowledge Base.
- A new DEX Readiness Report to help you find appointments that are missing required Stage 3 details before you export — see "Using the DEX Readiness Report" in this Knowledge Base.
Your existing CHSP/HACC client and service type setup does not change — see "CHSP & HACC DEX Mandatory settings and Reporting" for that setup.

What you need to do
- Keep using your existing DEX (DSS) report and CHSP/HACC client setup as normal — nothing about that changes yet.
- From this release, the DEX tab will appear on appointments with a service type that maps to a DEX activity. Start capturing the Stage 3 fields on new appointments as they occur — see "Capturing DEX Stage 3 Session Data".
- Before each DEX submission, run the DEX Readiness Report to catch any appointments missing Stage 3 details — see "Using the DEX Readiness Report".
-
Once you're comfortable with the data being captured, try the new DEX Export (Beta) screen and compare it against your current DEX (DSS) report — see "Running the New DEX Export"
