The new DEX Export screen produces a DEX-compliant export file that includes the DEX Stage 3 fields. During the transition period, it runs alongside the existing DEX (DSS) report described in "Reports - DEX Export (DSS)" — both are available while outputs are checked against each other.
You don't need to switch over straight away. Keep using your current DEX (DSS) report if that's your normal process — try the new export when you're ready, and compare the two before relying on it for a real submission.
NOTE: Only the new Exporter will export Stage 3 information
Finding the new DEX Export screen
The new export is available from the DEX or Reports section of the left-hand navigation, labelled DEX Export (Beta) so you can tell it apart from the existing DEX (DSS) report.
Running an export
- Select your date range.
- Turn on De-identify if you need client details replaced with the Statistical Linkage Key (SLK) in the output.
- Select Preview to see a summary before downloading: total client count, total session count, the date range covered, and a warning if any appointments in range are still missing DEX Stage 3 details.
- If appointments are flagged as incomplete, you can either complete them first via the DEX Readiness Report (see "Using the DEX Readiness Report"), or proceed anyway — the preview does not block your download.
- Select Download to generate and save the XML file, ready for upload to the DEX portal.

What's different from the existing DEX (DSS) report
The new export includes the DEX Stage 3 session-level fields (captured via the DEX tab on appointments) in addition to everything the current DEX (DSS) report already produces. Everything else — client and case information, exclusions, fees — is designed to match your existing DEX (DSS) report exactly during the transition period.
